Bots are computer programs or robots (hence the name bots) that perform human tasks in an autonomous way, such as visiting a web page. This results in invalid traffic to your website as these tasks are not performed by a human person. Therefore, Adhese implements bot filtering for its clients that prevents the counting of invalid bot impressions.

Bot filtering filters out impressions from bots, automatically. Adhese logs the request from a detected bot but its impressions are excluded from the Adhese reporting tools.

A bot gets detected by its IP address. Clients can choose to implement their own custom list of invalid IP addresses or to implement an existing list defined by the IAB. It is also possible that Adhese adds invalid IP addresses if a new bot gets identified.
